The Venue Guide
"The Historic Rice Mill offers unparalleled sunset views over Charleston’s own Ashley River. The Historic Rice Mill is the only of Charleston’s three original antebellum rice mills that still stands today."
This wedding venue is the the epitome of Charleston. You can host your ceremony outside overlooking the harbor, or it's even so close to Downtown Charleston that you can have your ceremony off site then come to this venue for the reception!
Located in Downtown Charleston, this venue is hard to pass up. It is the perfect size and location if you're looking for a venue that has beautiful views.
THE PERFECT VENUE
It's the day of your wedding the sun is setting on the horizon, while your husband is twirling you around in your wedding dress on the dock overlooking the Charleston harbor...
Charleston has the most beautiful sunsets and here you get the perfect view. You have access to three docks so you know you will get the best sunset portraits!
Inside the Historic Rice Mill there's plenty of space for your reception and dance floor! Plus there's a full bar and access to the patios outside. Plenty of room for your guests to move around and have fun!
There isn't an official bridal suite at the venue, so I would definitely recommend renting a hotel room or an airbnb. The good thing is that everything is right there so you can get something super close to the venue like the Courtyard by Marriott Charleston Waterfront hotel!
There are two popular places at The Historic Rice Mill to have your family photos. One is out front with the building as your backdrop. And the other is out back with the harbor as your backdrop. Both are beautiful!
This all depends on if you are having a first look or not! If you have a first look, we are able to get lots of photos done beforehand, so you can have a later ceremony. But if you don't have a first look you definitely want to have plenty of time to take photos after the ceremony! So I always say if you have a first look, two hours before sunset. And no first look, 3 hours before sunset.
Yes! Because the entrance to The Historic Rice Mill is so open, there's plenty of room for you to have a fun exit. There's also room for a private car or limo to pick you up right at the entrance.
