The Gadsden house

The Venue Guide

A stunning Southern venue for wedding ceremonies, receptions, and other indoor and outdoor events located in Charleston, SC

"Located in Downtown Charleston, The Gadsden House is a perfect space for wedding ceremonies and receptions. Grand parlor rooms feature original heart pine floors, beautiful fireplaces and crystal chandeliers while large Southern piazzas showcase lush courtyard gardens full of magnolias, crepe myrtles and palm trees"

This wedding venue is the Southern dream. The Gadsden House can fit up to 300 guests and you have several options on where to have your ceremony and reception. The best part about The Gadsden House is that your rain backup plan will be so easy! You can take a few steps right inside the house and you and your guests will be covered! Plus the whole house is surrounded with open porches so you can still step outside and keep the doors open for a nice breeze.

Located in Downtown Charleston, this venue is hard to pass up. It is the perfect size and location if you're looking for that beautiful fairytale wedding.

THE PERFECT VENUE

It's the day of your wedding and you're peaking outside the windows of the gadsden house to see your fiance waiting for you at the alter...

The Bridal Suite

Upstairs there's a huge room for you and your girls to get ready the morning of your wedding. And it includes a private kitchen and bathroom. It's the perfect space!

The Manor

Built in the 18th century, this Charleston manor is fit for your ceremony and/or reception. The walls are white with lots of natural light coming from floor to ceiling windows. And the rooms are spacious and well thought out!

The Courtyards

As well as having the option to have your ceremony and/or reception inside the manor, there's also the option to have it outside in the courtyards! With plenty of different areas, you won't have a problem picking the perfect spot for your ceremony.

Should we both get ready at The Gadsden House?

FAQ

I definitely recommend that the girls get ready at The Gadsden House! There's a beautiful bridal suite upstairs that is very spacious and has lots of natural light coming in. As well as a full kitchen and bathroom! As for the guys, there isn't a set space in the venue so they have the option of a hotel room, airbnb, or a separate room here in the venue!

A FEW OF the MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT SHOOTING WEDDINGS AT Middleton Place

Where do you recommend taking our family portraits?

The courtyard is the perfect space for family photos! There's plenty of room for the whole family and it's a beautiful backdrop. And if it's raining on your wedding day, you can have just as beautiful family photos on the wrap around porch!

What time should we schedule our ceremony to begin?

This all depends on if you are having a first look or not! If you have a first look, we are able to get lots of photos done beforehand, so you can have a later ceremony. But if you don't have a first look you definitely want to have plenty of time to take photos after the ceremony! So I always say if you have a first look, two hours before sunset. And no first look, 3 hours before sunset.

Is there parking for guests? And will they have to pay?

Because The Gadsden House is in Downtown Charleston, your guests will have to park at a parking garage and pay to park. The good thing is there's a parking garage a few feet away from the venue! So they won't have to walk far at all.
